In which industries are acrylic resins generally used?

Coating industry

Architectural coatings: acrylic resin is widely used in architectural exterior wall coatings. It has good weather resistance, can resist the erosion of natural factors such as ultraviolet radiation, acid rain, sandstorm, etc., and keep the exterior wall of the building bright in color and good in appearance for a long time. For example, in the exterior wall painting of high-grade residential quarters, acrylic resin coating can provide a variety of color choices, and has good waterproof performance, which can prevent rainwater from infiltrating into the wall and protect the wall structure.

Automobile coatings: acrylic resin is one of the key components in automobile repair paint and original paint. It can provide high gloss and hardness, so that the automobile surface has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance. At the same time, different color effects and paint film properties can be obtained by adjusting the formula of resin. For example, in the metallic paint of automobile, acrylic resin and metallic pigment cooperate to present a bright metallic texture and improve the appearance quality of automobile.

Industrial coatings: Acrylic coatings can provide effective protection for some industrial equipment surfaces that need chemical resistance and wear resistance, such as chemical equipment and mechanical equipment. It can resist the corrosion of acid, alkali and other chemicals, and can withstand a certain degree of friction and collision during the operation of the equipment, thus prolonging the service life of the equipment.

Adhesive industry

Pressure-sensitive adhesive: Acrylic resin is the main raw material for manufacturing pressure-sensitive adhesive. Pressure-sensitive adhesives are widely used in adhesive tapes, labels and other products. It has good viscosity and initial viscosity, can be adhered to the surface of various materials under light pressure, and can keep viscosity for a long time. For example, acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive can be easily pasted and torn on transparent tapes and commodity labels for office use, without leaving too much residual adhesive on the surface of the pasted objects.

Structural adhesive: acrylic structural adhesive also has a place in some structural bonding applications that need to bear greater strength. It can be used to bond metal, plastic, glass and other materials. Compared with other adhesives, acrylic structural adhesive can provide higher bonding strength after curing, and has certain toughness, which can adapt to the expansion and contraction between different materials due to temperature changes and other factors.

Ink industry

Printing ink: In the printing industry, acrylic resin is used to make various inks, such as lithographic printing ink and gravure printing ink. It can provide good pigment dispersibility and make ink have good fluidity and transferability in the printing process. For example, in high-quality magazine printing, acrylic ink can accurately print patterns and characters on paper, and after drying, it has high gloss and wear resistance, which makes the quality of printed matter higher.

Electronic ink: For the printing of display screens of electronic devices, such as conductive circuit printing on touch screens, acrylic electronic ink can provide good conductivity and adhesion. It can be mixed with conductive materials (such as silver powder, carbon powder, etc.) to form a stable conductive circuit on the surface of electronic equipment, and at the same time, it has good binding force with the substrate of display screen to ensure the long-term stability of the circuit.

Plastic industry

Plastic modification: Acrylic resin can be used to modify other plastics. The toughness, impact resistance and weather resistance of plastics can be improved by blending or grafting acrylic resin with other plastics (such as PVC, polystyrene, etc.). For example, adding a proper amount of acrylic resin into PVC plastic pipes can improve the impact strength of the pipes and make them not easy to break at low temperature.

Plastic surface treatment: used for plastic surface coating to enhance the surface performance of plastic. For example, coating a layer of acrylic resin on the surface of automobile interior plastic parts can improve the wear resistance, scratch resistance and gloss of the plastic parts, and at the same time, it can also give them certain antifouling performance, making the automobile interior easier to clean and keep beautiful.
